Legal work can be complex and demanding. But some types of legal work are more routine, For routine legal work, charging by the hour makes no sense to our clients – they see no connection between the fees charged and the value of the work to them. It rewards inefficiency. From our client’s perspective, that’s unnerving.

 

​So we’ve flipped that on its head. We offer fixed fees for standard work types. The types of work covered in our Fixed Fee Price List below.

 

We see legal costs as a business risk like any other. Part of our business is to manage that risk. By giving our clients certainty as to their legal costs it’s one less thing for them to worry about. And it saves us having to spend too much extra time explaining how we charge. We genuinely believe our clients would like to pay us fairly for what we do and that a fair sharing of risk and reward is conducive to a strong long term relationship.

 

​When both us and our clients have certainty about costs our relationship can thrive. After all, we also want to enjoy our work, work with clients we trust and respect, hang out with colleagues we like and go home each day with a sense of genuine satisfaction.

 

The same logic applies when we are dealing with complex and demanding issues. But it can be difficult to provide an accurate estimate of what our costs might be at the outset, let alone give you a fixed fee. You will know when your legal matter is complex and demanding. What we promise is that our costs will always be a live matter for discussion. The last thing we want is for our clients to have unpleasant surprises about costs. Again, fairness is key.
